They're Back!!!

After crazy summer of moving, Saturday we were able pick up Alex and Emily from the airport. We had planned for a nice and peaceful day: We would go to lunch in Abilene (they flew into the airport there), come home so they could see the new house, and we would just relax. That was the plan because they had to wake-up at 3:30 a.m. to catch their flight from Florida. (Trust me, I didn't buy the tickets) The plan was quickly altered when we received a call from Alex's soccer coach. They were planning two scrimmages on Saturday and wanted to know if Alex could make it. We let him know if the game was at 12:00 he could be there. So with that in mind, the kids landed at 10:30 and we immediately left the airport to go to the soccer fields. We had a small fear that Savannah might not remember her brother and sister...but she went right to them with a big smile.

They're Here!!!

Do I know you guys?

I love my Big Brother!!

My Sister...look we match!

We enjoyed the luxury of sandwiches in the car for lunch and the recap of the summer events from the back seat of the van. (Not what we had envisioned) Alex played really well in his game. They lost but did well.
A shot on the goal...nice moves Alex!

Finally after soccer and a stop at the mail box (for a little more drama) we took the kids home to see the new house. They were way excited. In Alex's words "We pimped this house out"
Alex's finished Room

Emily couldn't stop talking about her new room and how cool it was.
Emily loving her new room...don't you love all the colors?

Actually neither of them could stop talking. Polly was able to catch a 30 minute nap on Sunday and as soon her eyes were open Emily was talking again and Alex just had to show us something.
Emily enjoyed painting the letters for her wall, the garage floor, and a little paint on the van doesn't hurt does it?

So we are back to the crazy schedule of teenagers in the house. Emily is going to be in a play and Alex has a soccer tournament this weekend. We are excited for Emily and her new part, but we were hoping she would be talking more in the play so we could have a break at home....not so...she got the part of the dog in the play and has no lines. She just hast to be very animated with her facial expressions and tell her story that way. She did great last year in Robin Hood as Robin and we are interested to see how she can make it a whole hour without talking. We will keep you posted. Alex is happily playing his X-Box and enjoying the new house with endless entertainment. We are not sure what we are going to do when we move...this house is truly a blessing for our growing family.

We are grateful that we now have the space to enjoy our teenagers and have a space to be with the family and not just hiding in their rooms. It's scary to think how fast kids grow and before you know it they will be gone. We hope we can cherish the time with them now and make memories that they will never forget.

San Antonio

As many of you know, a trip to the temple is a whole day affair. We decided to stay over night in San Antonio and explore a little. Our list to explore included...
  • Lackland AFB (we just like to go to a normal BX)
  • Texas Pride BBQ (as seen on Dinner's, Drive-in's, and Dive's)...Yummy!
  • Hotel for a swim
  • Temple for me...shopping for dad (it was in walking distance)
  • SEA WORLD!!! for Savannah (with the rest of Texas)
With an exception of me getting lost and the temperature well over 100 degrees. We had a blast and came home exhausted.

It's not close to anything, but worth the drive if you like BBQ.

Look at the horse mommy.

Me and my Daddy...yes, we are hot!

Do you see the Sharks?

There they are.

The dolphins.

Can I touch the dolphin?

Do you like the car?

Can I hug the penguin?

Waiting for the show to start.

Hi daddy...we are down here.

It's Shamu!

The Military

Yesterday, I was privileged to be present at the change of command for Goodfellow Air Force base. The ceremony that takes place is a part of the military you don't get to see every day. This base has almost every branch of the service (no coast guard) stationed here. For the change of command you can see the Army, Marines, Navy and Air force lined up in their flights. My favorite part is the pass and review when they march by the base commander. It was humbling to know that our military still opened the ceremony with a word of prayer. The preacher asked God to bless the new commander to lead and direct him. In our world today when so many are turning their backs to the One who can protect them. I am grateful that the men and women who defend our freedoms, still seek His guidance.

Here are some pictures of what you see.

Presenting the colors.

Pass and Review

Can you find Eric marching?
It's all done!Standing in formation for over an hour isn't fun.
At least it wasn't hot.

One week later!

One week later and I finally have time that I can sit down at the computer and let the world know how everything with the move went. We did it! Everything went just about as planned. Some things better then others.

Savannah living it up at the Stratton's house. (Not baby proof) Thanks for letting us stay at the Stratton hotel.

Early Monday morning (like 7:00 a.m.) we wake to go and get the rental truck. I drop off Eric run by the house to get Savannah's breakfast (things you forget to pack for an overnighter) then its off to the babysitters for Savannah (Thanks Meyers' Family). I arrive at the house to see all of the boxes in the truck. (Way to go Eric)

Our house in boxes.

So we take a breakfast break. We load the rest of the odds and end into the truck. We have plenty of time to spare before we sign for the house. After signing over my life (I thought I was buying the house with all of the paper that I had to sign.) We got the keys and we were off to unpack.

The new house.

With an exception of forgetting the dolly we were done in a flash. We make it back to the house around 1:30 and start loading furniture. (Okay I didn't load any furniture, I emptied the refrigerator.) I left the boys to finish up the last of the house and took the food to the new house. (This is were the bump in the road comes in) In order to get the refrigerator out of the house you have to take the door off. I guess it took awhile to figure out (at least 30 mins). Needless to say they made it with the truck to the house to unload. (Its a good thing we got the biggest truck so everything could fit.) I left to go get Savannah and by the time I came back everything was done. That was the easiest unpacking job for me. (I did see someone almost drop a TV the size of Texas on them.) Other than that it went well. We dropped off the rental and made it to the Snarr's house for dinner a little after 6:00. (Thanks Snarr Family it was great.) The rest of the week was spent unpacking and organizing. Eric went back to work on Thursday.

Savannah is having a blast exploring the new house, especially the stairs.

Our first dinner at the new house!
The house now is in enough order that I can function without going crazy. The rooms are coming together very nicely. (There are even pictures hanging on the walls!!!)

Moving...

The Lescarbeau household has been spending the last couple of weeks packing up boxes and cleaning the house. Luckily Alex and Emily are gone to Florida visiting their mom so they miss out on all of the fun. So far everything is going well. We have had plenty of time to pack and clean so if everything goes as scheduled, we will be in our new house on Monday, July 6th. The plan is to have the house packed up and the beds torn down by Saturday night. We are staying at a friends house (thank you Stratton Family) Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning we, Eric and Polly, (Savannah is going to the babysitter) will pick up the moving truck and load up the boxes. We hope to have that done before Eric has to go sign for the house at 10:00. After we sign for the house we are going unload all of the boxes. Eric's co-workers have volunteered to help us load up the heavier things around 2:00. We plan on having a large enough truck to load and unload everything in one trip. In theory, we should be done by Monday before dinner. This will give us plenty of time to put some order into the new house so we can sleep there. Tuesday morning we will finish cleaning up the old house, like the kitchen (behind the appliances) and maybe vaccum the floor. We have been cleaning each room as we pack. (Its really easy to clean rooms when the kids are not here to use them) Hopefully that will be all that we have to clean.

This is the plan according to Polly's mind. We will keep you posted to see how well it is executed.
