They're Back!!!

After crazy summer of moving, Saturday we were able pick up Alex and Emily from the airport. We had planned for a nice and peaceful day: We would go to lunch in Abilene (they flew into the airport there), come home so they could see the new house, and we would just relax. That was the plan because they had to wake-up at 3:30 a.m. to catch their flight from Florida. (Trust me, I didn't buy the tickets) The plan was quickly altered when we received a call from Alex's soccer coach. They were planning two scrimmages on Saturday and wanted to know if Alex could make it. We let him know if the game was at 12:00 he could be there. So with that in mind, the kids landed at 10:30 and we immediately left the airport to go to the soccer fields. We had a small fear that Savannah might not remember her brother and sister...but she went right to them with a big smile.

We enjoyed the luxury of sandwiches in the car for lunch and the recap of the summer events from the back seat of the van. (Not what we had envisioned) Alex played really well in his game. They lost but did well.

Finally after soccer and a stop at the mail box (for a little more drama) we took the kids home to see the new house. They were way excited. In Alex's words "We pimped this house out"

Actually neither of them could stop talking. Polly was able to catch a 30 minute nap on Sunday and as soon her eyes were open Emily was talking again and Alex just had to show us something.

Emily enjoyed painting the letters for her wall, the garage floor, and a little paint on the van doesn't hurt does it?

So we are back to the crazy schedule of teenagers in the house. Emily is going to be in a play and Alex has a soccer tournament this weekend. We are excited for Emily and her new part, but we were hoping she would be talking more in the play so we could have a break at home....not so...she got the part of the dog in the play and has no lines. She just hast to be very animated with her facial expressions and tell her story that way. She did great last year in Robin Hood as Robin and we are interested to see how she can make it a whole hour without talking. We will keep you posted. Alex is happily playing his X-Box and enjoying the new house with endless entertainment. We are not sure what we are going to do when we move...this house is truly a blessing for our growing family.

We are grateful that we now have the space to enjoy our teenagers and have a space to be with the family and not just hiding in their rooms. It's scary to think how fast kids grow and before you know it they will be gone. We hope we can cherish the time with them now and make memories that they will never forget.
