A Day of Service

Emily is a senior this year, which is crazy.  As your kids grow up they also grow apart from you.  They are trying to figure out themselves and in the process they don't need parents anymore.  Emily has always been one to keep to herself and her interest haven't always been the same as the majority of the family.  So spending time with her...doesn't usually happen.  It's crazy to think that she will be graduating, but the harder part is we will be moving shortly after that.  So it seems like our time with her will end before she goes off to college.  So the other day when she mentioned she had senior service day Eric was quick to ask when and what she was going to do.  Emily was a little surprised that he was interested and asked if he wanted to join her.  She didn't say anything before because she assumed that he would be to busy.  He looked at his schedule and wondered if he would have time.  Then he realized...he needed to make time no matter what. (This is what I love about him...his priorities.)  So it was to the zoo to help where ever they needed.

Some how they were lucky enough to be able to work up close with the horses.  The rest of the kids that were there didn't get to be so close to the animals...but they did.  It was a great day to serve and more importantly it was a great day for a Daddy to spend time with his daughter.  The work was hard but their was no complaining from Emily.  It was a nice surprise for dad to see Emily in this light.  At home things are a little different when it comes work.  They had a great day together and even got to see a little of real wild life outside the fence at the zoo.
