The deployed life...

Eric has now been gone for three very long months. Life for him has become a routine of sorts. Work occupies most of his time, but without his family, what else is there to do. With some encouragement from a mutual friend he is trying to make the most of the experience as possible by doing whatever activity imaginable.

He has picked a new past time playing BINGO...every chance he get he goes. It has started to pay off. He has already one $125 in gift cards. He has gone to some of the concerts and other things they have there...some aren't even worth his time (even though he has plenty of it.) The one he enjoyed the most (perhaps because it was also a learning experience) was when they had former astronauts come and talk to them (one of which was Neil Armstrong).

A few weeks ago he decided to run in a 5k. This wasn't anything extreme for him...(he runs at least three miles when he exercises) he just tried to challenge himself by running at a faster pace then what he does for normally. Just this week they had a 10k. He wasn't sure if he wanted to participate, but with some encouragement from his wife, and the okay from his boss to be a little late...he did it. He finished just over 54minutes and he ran fast enough to get one of the few T-shirts they were handing out in the end. We were way excited, for him. He was hoping to make it in at least an hour.
Savannah loved to see pictures of Daddy. In her words...
"Daddy Run"
"Shoes"
"Fast"
"Again"
"Glasses"

She just wanted to keep looking at him again and again. We still miss him back home and are starting to count down the days until he will be home.

Run, Eric, run! :)
I miss him for you. Can't wait for you to turn the camera on yourself so we can all see the baby bump AND let him know that the poem he inspired has been published (for the first time.)
