Family Visit... Part 2

Day 3, Friday

Parade and lunch at the park, finished off with a movie night.

Alex and Emily went to school, Eric was off to work doing his special duty, and the rest of us got ready and headed up to the base to see the parent's day parade.  Having extra people in the house made getting out the door a little more difficult.  Our goal was 10:00 actual time 10:20.  The problems quickly started with a phone call from Lisa saying she forgot her drivers license.  (Those who are military can understand the problem trying to get on the base.)  Luckily the base was open for the parade and no one was at the gate.  We quickly realize that we should have gotten there earlier.  We ended up parking and then getting on a bus.  Parade was going to start at 11:00 we thought we had plenty of time.  To our dismay we arrived just as the parade finished.  Polly was frantically trying to find Eric, Brittlynn was hungry, and we had a group of kids with nothing to see.  Polly searches out a private spot to feed Brittlynn only to find out that Eric isn't anywhere to be found at the parade.  He also found out he wouldn't be home until 8:00 pm and he was privileged to walk around with an M-16 all day.

No worries though, Lisa has quickly found ways to entertain all of the kids...duck duck goose anyone?

Playing with a chain is always fun...

...they even took turns

Polly was frustrated that we missed the parade, exhausted from carrying Brittlynn in her car seat, and ready to eat lunch at the park.  The plan was to go to one on base, but we have the no drivers license problem....so the trip to the base consisted of riding on a big bus, singing the song about the bus, playing duck, duck, goose... and going to find a park to eat lunch at.

Luckily Mom did manage to get one picture of the airplane while on our way out of the base.

The best part about it all was that kids didn't even know any different.  Savannah wanted to see her daddy but was quickly distracted with games, cousins, the bus, and the park.  Unfortunately everyone fell asleep in the car on the way to the park...so naps later were out of the question.

This is how Brittlynn spent most of the time with her cousins.  She did really well with us dragging her all of Colorado and back again.

Slide show of park fun...

So our day of fun ended with breakfast for dinner and movie with popcorn.  Lights out early for tomorrows adventure.
