Today Eric had surgery on his tonsils. He has known about the surgery for over a month. During this time he heard many things about what he was going experience. He was so anxious to have his surgery over he couldn't sleep at night. Everything seemed to be going as planned. We showed up early in the morning and found out that Eric was bumped to the first surgery of the morning and we were really excited. After everyone checking on him he was ready for surgery. He couldn't remember a thing after he left the room. The next time I saw him he didn't feel very well. They gave him some medicine for his nausea. That put him to sleep...but it also made him feel better. Then they gave him pain medicine. We thought for sure we would be home by noon. Three hours later we were finally able to come home...to our surprise Eric had to bring home an oxygen tank. They worked to get his oxygen levels normal, but without him concentrating it was too hard. I was worried I would have to watch him sleep at night to make sure he didn't stop breathing. I am very grateful for the oxygen tank...and I did get lots of pictures that make my husband look like an old man.
After coming home, eating became miserable. It hurt to swallow water....then nausea came. That made eating impossible. It took almost four days for them to figure out what would help him not get sick. That was four days of no food. It was a miserable week for Eric. He was finally feeling better and able to function again. He is grateful he no longer is in pain. He is still not sure why he had to have is tonsils out, but it is all done. The best part about have two weeks off of work is the extra snuggle time he was able to get with his girls.
