A long day
Sometimes things happen in life that you might pass of as luck or chance. In my life I truly believe that someone greater is watching over us and is very mindful of our everyday situations. Our family flew to Ohio for Christmas break. Alex and Emily were already in Florida at their moms and they met us in Ohio. Our flight left Denver mid-day on Christmas. We left in plenty of time to make it to the airport, eat lunch and feed Brittlynn. As we were driving we started to remember the things we wanted to bring and then we left; baby monitor, cover for the car seat, necklace, presents. 30 minutes into our trip we realize we left the presents we were going to bring. After realizing we still had a little more than three hours before our flight, we decided to turn around. (I just felt like we had to.) As we are driving home we see an accident on the other side of the high way and traffic backing up, hoping it will be gone on the way back. Well traffic was a lot heavier than we hoped for. We had previously decided to park in the remote parking lot and take the shuttle in. The parking lot was full so our next option was the airport. They were running a special that allowed you to park in the garage for the same price as the long term parking. Lucky for us, we were running late. Somehow Brittlynn slept the whole time, eating an hour later than normal. (This is one of those blessings...we didn't have to stop and feed her. On the way home we ended up picking a flight that left Cleveland at 9:00 am, but didn't arrive in Denver until 4:30 pm. That mean waking up early and then adding a 2 hour time difference...a very long day. We stop in St. Louis before getting to Oklahoma where we waited for a three hour lay over. By the time we get to Colorado we are exhausted. The kids are doing wonderful for such a long travel day. As we drive our van out of the covered parking area we thought how "lucky" or watched over we are. There was a terrible snow storm that had covered all of the parking lots. Are car was under the garage. Thinking about having to add a trip on a shuttle with all of our bags was not very exciting. We were truly blessed even by the simple things that happen to make a long day not so long.
